Application Management: S2E’s Three-Layer Model

Effectively managing applications requires an organizational model capable of coordinating strategy, operations, and technological evolution. S2E’s approach to Application Management is built around this idea, relying on a three-layer structure that enables integrated governance of the entire application lifecycle.

Application Management

The first level, Business, defines the direction. At this stage, new processes, services, and functionalities are designed with the aim of meeting the needs of users and end customers. It is the starting point from which application evolutions take shape, guided by concrete objectives and a clear vision of the value to be generated.

The IT layer translates these needs into operational solutions. It oversees applications and their evolution, coordinating internal resources as well as any external suppliers. At this stage, technical expertise and integration capabilities become essential to ensure alignment between business requirements and technological implementation.

The model is completed by the AMS (Application Management Service) level, entrusted to an external partner. This layer manages activities in the production environment, ensuring stability and operational continuity (RUN), while also supporting application evolutions (CHANGE) defined by the previous levels.

The distinction between the three areas helps clarify responsibilities and operational workflows, improving coordination between the various functions involved. At the same time, it encourages a more structured approach to application management, where each level contributes to achieving overall objectives.
